GIFT GUIDE for the TINY APARTMENT

December 15, 2016

Do you know anyone who just moved into an apartment that could use a little TLC? Here are some beautiful and functional ideas for the renter in your life!

SPACE-SAVING SHOE STORAGE

LEANERA COAT and SHOE RACK

Shoes and outerwear are the quickest way to clutter an entryway, and in a tiny apartment, every square foot counts! The clean lines of this structure keeps the room from looking congested, but large enough to offer actual storage solutions. This is a beautiful gift for someone with that trendy Nordic minimalism style.

TEMPORARY WALLPAPER

SPECKLE by CHASING PAPER

Temporary wallpaper is my #1 suggestion to anyone looking for an instant makeover. There are tons of websites that sell unique patterns by the roll; Chasing Paper is one that is always on trend with a wide variety of styles priced reasonably.

Adhesive wallpaper can be used on furniture as well. A bit of this on the back of a bookshelf or a kitchen cabinet makes a big statement, and the best part is, it peels right off when it's time to move! It's also an awesome alternative for someone whose apartment doesn't allow them to paint. Check out the Chasing Paper Instagram for some fresh inspiration.

WOVEN TAPESTRY ART

BOHO by LAUREN TAPESTRY

I recently found Boho by Lauren on Instagram, and I am OBSESSED. Her designs are so rich and dynamic. I need one in every room of my apartment.

Fiber art is having a real moment right now in the design realm. It packs a major punch without the commitment of paint, nor the floor space of accent furniture. It anchors a space without adding weight or taking away from precious square footage. This piece would be a great solution to a headboard, or even a beautiful room divider. Because the best fiber art is typically handwoven, this can be a pricey gift, but like any art, it's a forever piece.

BEHIND-THE-TOILET BATHROOM SHELF

THRESHOLD STORAGE SPACE SAVER ETAGERE LADDER

Very glamorous, I know, but this thing is a game changer. Target sells this storage ladder and a number of alternatives to the hanging baskets, and it offers the perfect amount of storage for a tiny bathroom lacking cabinet space. It's also very cute.

20x200 PRINTs

IDEAL BOOKSHELF 974: FEMINISTS by JANE MOUNT

If you've never heard of 20X200, it's essentially an affordable online art and photography vendor. There are thousands of prints to purchase, and they offer framing services to add to your order, making it a one stop shop for your artsy friend. Wall art is a fun way to make a place feel more personal, and picking the perfect piece for someone's apartment is a thoughtful gift that someone is sure to love.

PLUG-IN LIGHTING

URBAN OUTFITTERS EYEBALL SCONCE

Sconces not only give a touch of structured elegance, they're also an awesome space saver in tiny bedrooms or living rooms. Urban Outfitters makes a few styles that are ideal for renters because they don't need to be hardwired. This Eyeball sconce is chic, simple, and affordable—just plug in this bad boy and you've got yourself an additional light fixture that doesn't take up any floor or counter space.

WALL-MOUNTED MUG TREE

I can't find a source for this product; I actually think it was a DIY. So, if you've got any welding equipment nearby, this would be an amazing gift! Mugs are a total space killer, and putting a giant mug tree on your counter doesn't really free up too much room. This isn't a totally feasible gift considering it requires a safety mask and power tools, but as a tiny apartment owner myself, this thing would free up half of a cabinet!

UNIQUE hardware

ANTHROPOLOGIE MEDALLION KNOBS

Decorative knobs can update an old dresser or a boring storage cabinet without breaking the bank. Choosing eclectic pieces from a variety of locations make IKEA furniture look worldly and one-of-a-kind. They can even be installed as wall hooks for hanging jewelry or coats!

MULTI-PURPOSE BAR CART

WORLD MARKET GENEVA BAR CART

This bar cart is perfect for the hostess lacking adequate party space; just look how many wine glasses you can take out of your tiny kitchen cabinet! It houses the alcohol as well as the glassware in a compact fashion, and it's on wheels, making it easy to stow away when not in use. A bar cart with storage is essentially like having an additional cabinet or two, while also adding a posh design touch to an empty space.

I hope these products offer some inspiration! Happy holidays to you and

yours— may your home be filled with love and laughter, and may your last minute online orders arrive in time for Christmas.

(P.S. if it's too late to get me that World Market bar cart for Christmas, my birthday is in February. I'm just sayin'.)
